FIRST TEE
The Long Beach State men's golf team returns to the green for their 10th tournament of the 2016-17 campaign, taking part in the University of Wyoming Cowboy Classic presented by Cleveland Golf in Chandler, Ariz. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday (Apr. 10) with first and second round action, followed by final round play concluding on Tuesday (Apr. 11). Both days with begin with a 7:30 a.m. (PT) shotgun start and will take place at the par-72, 7,334-yard Whirlwind Golf Club Cattail course.
COWBOY FIELD
LBSU will be among a 21-team field at this year's Cowboy Classic. The 49ers will compete with Wyoming, Kansas, Colorado State, Sacramento State, Denver, UC Davis, CSUN, Wichita State, Air Force, Utah State, Gonzaga, Southern Utah, Old Dominion, Idaho, UC Santa Barbara, Houston Baptist, Weber State, William & Mary, Arizona State and Colorado.
49ERS' STARTING FIVE + INDY
Joe Fryer, Andres Gonzalez, Kymer Li, Agostino Milazzo and Hunter Reed will represent the Beach at this year's Cowboy Classic. Patrick Pockels will compete as an individual for the 49ers.

LAST TIME AT THE COWBOY CLASSIC
LBSU finished in 12th place out of 18 teams in the 2015 Cowboy Classic in Chandler, Ariz. The 49ers posted a three-round score of 2-over 866, recording rounds of 283, 291 and 292. Former 49er JJ Holen was the top player for the Beach, tying for sixth at 7-under 209 (71-70-68).
LAST TIME OUT
The 49ers are coming off from a second-place finish at the Bob Sitton Invitational at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas Golf Course. LBSU fell just short of repeating as team champions, finishing 10 shots behind team champion Arkansas State. The 49ers completed the three-day tournament at 10-over 862. Joe Fryer led the way for the 49ers after shooting a 72 to finish in third at 2-under 211. This was Fryer's second consecutive top-five finish and third this season.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
The 49ers return to action on Monday, Apr. 17, taking part in the two-day, 54-hole Cal Poly Shootout at Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande, Calif.
LBSU OPENS SPRING SEASON WITH TOURNAMENT WIN
The 49ers opened the spring season at the Folino Invitational in Industry, Calif., as the Beach took home both the team and individual titles. LBSU won by two-shots with an 8-over 827 over second-place UC Santa Barbara (+10) and redshirt sophomore Joe Fryer captured individual medalist by five strokes with a 7-under 209, recording his first career tournament win.
49ERS CLOSE OUT FALL SEASON IN HAWAI'I
LBSU closed out the fall season with a 16th place finish at the 24-team Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic at the Ka'anapali Golf Course in Oahu. The 49ers recorded a three-round score of 16-over 868. Andres Gonzalez was the top player for the Beach, tying for 10th with an 8-under 205.
PAUL GOYDOS WINS CHARLES SCHWAB CUP CHAMPIONSHIP
Former LBSU men's golfer Paul Goydos captured the Charles Schwab Cup Championship back on Nov. 13 at the Desert Mountain Club Cochise Course. Goydos held off Bernhard Langer of Germany by two strokes to finish the season-ending tournament at 15-under-par 195. This was Goydos' fifth win overall on the PGA Champions Tour and second tournament victory this season after capturing the Dick's Sporting Goods Open by two shots in Endicott, N.Y. He won twice on the PGA Tour and shot a 59 in the 2010 John Deere Classic. Goydos will close out the PGA Champions Tour season in third in the Schwab Cup Points. The Charles Schwab Cup is a season-long, earnings-based competition launched in 2001 to determine the PGA Tour Champions' top player.
BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS UP THE COAST
The 2017 Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship will head up the central coast to Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara. The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday, May 1. The winning team of the league championship receives the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
