LONG BEACH, Calif. – TJ DeFalco was named Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week after turning in a solid weekend effort in a pair of crucial MPSF matches against No. 3 BYU.
DeFalco, who was named MPSF Player of the Week on Monday, collected the weekly accolades for the second time in his career.
Last week, DeFalco totaled 38 kills and 42.5 points on the week after opening the series at BYU with a season-high 25 kills on .340 hitting to go along with a season-best 14 digs. The double-double marked the third of the season for DeFalco.
He came back the following day and led the Beach with 13 kills, while hitting .333, in a three-set sweep of the Cougars.
DeFalco finished the week with 18 digs, five blocks, two assists and a pair of service aces.
The product out of Huntington Beach, Calif., helped put the Beach in first place in the MPSF standings and now Long Beach State needs just one more conference win (or a BYU league loss) to clinch the No. 1 seed and home court advantage in the MPSF Tournament.
DeFalco is the 28th Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honor in program history.
