Former LBSU Baseball Coach Dick Clegg Passes Away

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Former Long Beach State baseball coach Dick Clegg has passed away. Clegg was Long Beach State’s second head baseball coach, serving four seasons in that role from 1960-63 after taking over for John McConnell.
Clegg’s most successful season at Long Beach State was his first, as he led the 1960 team to a record of 19-14 and a third-place finish in conference. LBSU also finished third in the CCAA after the 1962 season with an overall record of 15-17-1.
Clegg also coached Long Beach State’s first major leaguer, Dick Nen, during the 1960 season.
