Shourds Ties For 22nd At Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Long Beach State freshman Holland Shourds shot a 78 in Tuesday's final round of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational, tying for 22nd place at Almaden Golf and Country Club.
LBSU completed the two-day, 54-hole tournament in ninth at 54-over-par 918 after posting a final round score of 311.
BYU capture the team title with an 18-over 882 as the Cougars led the field of 11 teams by three shots over second-place San Jose State (+21) and 11 strokes over Colorado (+29) in third.
Shourds turned in a 54-hole score of 12-over 228 to lead the way for the 49ers.
For the second consecutive round, sophomore Haley Tygret posted a 77 to move up five spots in the standings to tie for 24th at 14-over.
Redshirt junior Savannah Knox recorded a 78 to move five positions up the standings, tying for 40th at 19-over.
Junior Alicia Arzaga and freshman Maria Davis tied for 46th at 20-over 236. Arazaga shot a 78, while Davis recored an 86 to fall 32 positions.
Junior Felicia Taverrite, competing as an individual, placed 55th at 23-over 239 after shooting an 82.
The Cougars' Kendra Dalton won individual medalist honors with a 4-under 212, edging the Spartans' My Leander (-2) by two shots.
The 49ers return to action on Oct. 3-4, traveling to Columbia, Mo. for the Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri.
