Las Vegas, Nev. - Long Beach State held close to the No. 9 Sooners on Sunday for most of the day, but ultimately couldn't get on the board in a 7-0 loss to Oklahoma.
Oklahoma (3-2) got on the board in the first inning, as designated player Erin Miller hit a solo home run off of Cielo Meza, but the freshman avoided any further damage as Long Beach State (2-3) trailed 1-0.
The Beach had runners on first and second in the bottom half of the inning, as Darian Tautalafua singled and Julia Lombardi reached on an error, but the two-out rally ended on a Paige Parker strikeout.
The Sooners added another run in the third inning, and tacked on two more as Miller continued to best the Beach. A leadoff triple from the DP got the inning started, and then singles from Kady Self and Sydney Romero made the score 4-0.
In the top of the seventh, Oklahoma added three more runs on four hits, including a home run from Macey Hatfield.
Long Beach State continues tournament play next weekend, where they will participate in a tournament hosted by Stanford. The Beach will play the Cardinal, North Dakota State and St. Mary's while in Palo Alto, Calif.
