Los Angeles, Calif. - Beach Tennis senior Maeva Razakasoa got to compete against some of the top players from across the country on Tuesday, competing in the qualifying singles draw of the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at Riviera Tennis Club in Los Angeles. Razakasoa suffered a pair of losses, but competed well against a pair of opponents from the Southeastern Conference.
"I am very proud of Maeva, she battled against some very tough opponents," said Long Beach State head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello on her senior's performance. "She may have come up short, but she learned a lot today."
Playing against Rutuja Bhosale of Texas A&M, a seeded opponent ranked No. 45 in the country, Razakasoa suffered a 6-4, 6-3 loss in her first match of the day, sending her to a backdraw match later in the afternoon. In that match, Razakasoa faced No. 89-ranked Josie Kuhlman of Florida and came up short in a 6-2, 6-4 defeat.
This weekend, Long Beach State hosts the Beach Tennis Fall Invitational with matches running Friday-Sunday at Rhodes Tennis Center.
