
Beach Tennis Concludes Play at Southwest Regionals

San Diego, Calif. - The Beach finished up play at the 2016 ITA Southwest Regionals on Saturday, playing six singles and three doubles matches down in San Diego. Senior Hayley Thompson won both of her matches to lead the way for Long Beach State.
Playing a modified one-set format in singles, Thompson defeated Michelle Pits of Hawai'i by a score of 8-3. Thompson also scored an 8-3 win with partner Lena Pacholski as they scored a doubles win against Masako Makiba and Luxizi Meng of Cal State Fullerton.
Also winning in doubles action was the senior duo of Maeva Razakasoa and Julie Gerard. The French tandem also won by an 8-3 margin, defeating Grand Canyon's team of Emilia Occhipinti and Lana Rinaldi.
Senior Maeva Razakasoa came up short in her quarterfinal match, falling 6-4, 6-3 to No. 10 seed Dzina Milovanovic of Pepperdine.
The Beach will get a few weeks off from official competition, returning to the court Nov. 11-13 at the CSUN Fall Tournament in Northridge for the team's final action in the calendar year.
