
Razakasoa Advances to Round of 16 at Oracle ITA Masters

Malibu, Calif. - On the opening day of the 2016 Oracle ITA Masters tournament, Beach Tennis senior Maeva Razakasoa won her opening singles match to advance to the Round of 16 on Friday. Razakasoa was a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 winner over Lauren Proctor from Winthrop to advance in the tournament.
Razakasoa was able to come from behind and win a very back-and-forth third set, which saw each player break serve multiple times. In the end, the Big West Player of the Year was able to pull through and she will face North Carolina's Sara Daavetlla tomorrow at around 11 a.m. Daavetilla, the No. 3 seed in the draw, was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in her opening round match against Shreya Pasricha of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Earlier in the day, Razakasoa dropped a close mixed doubles match with her partner Alec Adamson from UC Davis. The Big West pairing dropped a 6-4 result to Katarina Adamovic (Oklahoma State) and Gergely Madarasz (Purdue).
