Los Angeles, Calif. - Long Beach State's two doubles pairs suffered defeat on Saturday morning at the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, falling in the opening match of the pre-qualifying draw.
The team of Maeva Razakasoa and Julie Gerard took on Lipscomb's pair of Viktoriya Dzyuba and Denise Buberl, coming up on the wrong end of an 8-5 score. Elsewhere in the bracket, LBSU's duo of Hayley Thompson and Lena Pacholski dropped an 8-4 decision against No. 3 seed Caroline Brinson and Kennedy Shaffer from Georgia.
The All-American Tournament isn't over for Long Beach State, however, as Razakasoa will be in singles action next week. She has already been placed into the qualifying round of the singles tournament, and will begin play on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades.
Catch the entire Beach Tennis team in action at Rhodes Tennis Center next weekend (Oct. 7-9) for the Beach Tennis Fall Invite.
