Long Beach State Sweeps Alberta in Final Exhibition Match

EDMONTON, Alberta - The Long Beach State men's volleyball team swept the University of Alberta, 25-19, 25-21, 35-33, in its second and final exhibition match Saturday night at the Saville Community Sports Centre.
Senior Cody Martin led the Beach with 14 kills on .520 hitting. Freshman TJ DeFalco added 13 kills, while classmate Kyle Ensing had 10 (.474).
The 49ers won both of their exhibition matches against the Golden Bears as they also picked up a five-set victory on Thursday, Dec. 31.
Long Beach State officially opens the season at the UCSB Asics Invitational, Jan. 8-9. They are set to square off against Lindenwood (10 a.m.) and Sacred Heart (7 p.m.) on Friday, before closing out the tournament against Quincy (4 p.m.) on Saturday.
