Santa Barbara, Calif. - Long Beach State lost to UC Santa Barbara in their fourth Big West Conference match 8-7. Junior attacker Christina Kotsia scored four goals to lead the Beach.

In the first quarter, the Gauchos scored the first goal to start the match. Then freshman Virginia Smith scored a back-hand shot from the perimeter to tie the score at 1-1. UC Santa Barbara scored two more goals to lead the Beach at 1-3 at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, UC Santa Barbara scored two more goals. In the third quarter, Kotsia scored a hat trick of three goals in three different six versus five man-up power play opportunities. Senior Captain Rachel Cretcher then scored her first goal from a counter attack to bring the score up for the Beach at 5-6.

In the fourth quarter, UC Santa Barbara the first goal. Then Kotsia scored her fourth goal from the perimeter. Cretcher then scored her second goal from the perimeter and tied the match at 7-7. The Gauchos scored with 57 seconds left in the game and won the match at 7-8.

Long Beach State will play again in the Big West Playoffs in Hawai'i on Friday April 24-26.
