FIRST TEE
Long Beach State returns to the greens after a two-and-a-half week break as the 49ers head to Napa for the 2nd Annual Silverado Showdown hosted by Colorado and Oregon. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday, Apr. 13 with first and second round action, followed by the final 18 holes concluding on Tuesday, Apr. 14. Both days will begin with an 8:30 a.m. (PST) shotgun start at the par-72, 6,253-yard Silverado Resort & Spa North Course.
NAPA FIELD
LBSU will be among a 15-team field at this year's Silverado Showdown as the 49ers will face No. 34 California, No. 39 Colorado, Colorado State, No. 48 GRU Augusta, Harvard, Hawai'i, Minnesota, New Mexico, No. 12 Northwestern, No. 32 Oregon, Oregon State, No. 47 San Jose State, Washington State and Wisconsin.
49ERS' STARTING FIVE
Senior Chaewon Park, juniors Shawnee Martinez, Janelle Sua and Kassidy Teare and redshirt freshman Savannah Knox will represent the 49ers at the Silverado Showdown.
THE COURSE
Ranked as the No. 22 course in the state of California by Golfweek, the Silverado Resort and Spa North Course was recently redesigned by PGA Hall of Famer Johnny Miller. The North Course has seen six different PGA and Senior PGA Tour events come through since 1968. Most recently, the course hosted the 2014 Frys.com Open where Sang-Moon Bae won his second-career PGA Tour event with a 15-under 273. Other past champions from various tournaments include Miller, Jack Nicklaus, Billy Casper, Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw, Lee Trevino, Bruce Fleisher and Tom Kite. The North Course has also made the "Next 100 Resort Courses" list by Golfweek and was also No. 27 on Golf Digest's "America's Top 50 Courses For Women" in 2013.

LAST TIME OUT
LBSU is coming off from a strong performance at the SDSU Farms Invitational match play tournament (Mar. 23-25) at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe as the 49ers posted a 3-1 record, defeating Houston 3-2 to capture the consolation match title. LBSU fell on the first day of competition to tournament host No. 25 San Diego State, 3-2, then rallied the following day to sweep Nevada and Kansas by a score of 3-2 in both matches. Junior Kassidy Teare and redshirt freshman Savannah Knox completed the tournament with a 3-1, while senior Chaewon Park and junior Shawnee Martinez finished the match play tournament with a 2-2 record.
BIG WEST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS NORTH
After a three-year run at the San Luis Obispo Country Club in San Luis Obispo, the Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship will move to El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif. as UC Davis will host the the 2015 championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Sunday, Apr. 19 with opening round play.
LBSU TAKES 10TH AT WILDCAT INVITE
The 49ers posted a 10th place finish at the Wildcat Invitational at the Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The Beach finished with a three-round score of 40-over 904, finishing just one-shot behind No. 33 Houston (+39) in ninth and three strokes behind New Mexico State (+37) in eighth. Senior Chaewon Park led the way for the 49ers, tying for 38th at 9-over 225.
TEARE RECORDS THIRD CONSECUTIVE TOP-10 FINISH
Junior Kassidy Teare led the way for the Beach at the Bruin Wave Invitational, tying for eighth-place with an 8-over 224. This marked Teare's third consecutive top-10 performance and fourth this season. The Vista, Calif. native kicked off the spring season with a runner-up performance at the LBSU-hosted Gold Rush finishing just one shot behind first and tied for seventh at the UC Irvine Invitational.
TEARE NAMED BIG WEST CO-GOLFER OF THE MONTH
Kassidy Teare was named Big West Conference Women's Co-Golfer of the Month for February after posting back-to-back top-10 finishes. Teare finished in second-place at the LBSU-hosted Gold Rush hosted by Southern California Ford Dealers at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach and tied for seventh at the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia at Santa Ana Country Club in Santa Ana. This was Teare's third top-10 performance this season and eighth overall in her career at the Beach.
LBSU PLACES 12TH AT UC IRVINE INVITATIONAL
The 49ers are coming off from a disappointing 12th place finish at the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia at the Santa Ana Country Club. LBSU recorded a three-round score of 53-over 917. Junior Kassidy Teare led the way for the Beach, tying for seventh with an even-216, recording her second consecutive top-10 finish.
49ERS WIN THE GOLD RUSH
The Beach recorded their first tournament win where they captured the LBSU-hosted Gold Rush presented by Southern California Ford Dealers. The 49ers posted a 19-over 883 to win by a comfortable 19 shots over second-place Fresno State (+38). Junior Kassidy Teare (+1) led the way for the Beach, finishing in second followed by senior Chaewon Park (+3) in third and redshirt freshman Savannah Knox (+4) in fourth.
BEACH TAKES EIGHTH AT VEGAS SHOWDOWN
The 49ers closed out the fall season finishing in eighth place at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. LBSU recorded its lowest score of the tournament with a 291 in the final round to complete the three-day, 54-hole tourament at 20-over-par 884. Redshirt freshman Savannah Knox led the way for the 49ers, tying for 11th at 1-over 213, posting her first career top-20 finish.
NINERS PLACES THIRD AT RON MOORE INTERCOLLEGIATE
LBSU is coming off from one of their best performances of the fall season at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate as the 49ers placed third in the 12-team field. LBSU recorded a 24-over 888 at the par-72, 6,457-yard Highlands Ranch Golf Course in Highlands Ranch, Colo. For the second straight tournament, junior Kassidy Teare was the top finisher for the 49ers, placing fourth with a 54-hole total of 3-over 219.
LBSU PLACES SIXTH AT GOLFWEEK CONFERENCE CHALLENGE
The 49ers closed out the final round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Red Sky Golf Club with the fourth lowest score of the day, posting an even-par 288 to finish in sixth-place. LBSU moved up the standings for the second consecutive day as the 49ers made a 24-shot improvement from Tuesday's second round score of 312. LBSU completed the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 44-over 908. Junior Kassidy Teare led the way for the 49ers shooting an even-par 72 tying for 21st, finishing the tournament at 8-over 224. Teare's scorecard was highlighted by two birdies, 11 pars and an eagle on the par-five 18th.
49ERS OPEN SEASON AT FORT COLLINS
LBSU kicked off the 2014-15 campaign at the season-opening Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. The 49ers finished in 14th place out of 17 teams, posting a three-day score of 52-over 916. Senior Chaewon Park was the top player for the 49ers, tying for 23rd with an 8-over 224.
LBSU SIGNS TWO TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT
Head golf coach Joey Cerulle has announced the signing of Breann Fox and Dianna Kim to National Letters of Intent. Both players will join the 49ers for the 2015-16 season. Fox (Chino, Calif.) was the 2011 Ventura County Junior Golf Player of the Year. The senior at Ontario Christian High School is a starter on the boy's golf team and a Scholar Athlete. Fox won the 2013 Long Beach Junior Open and earned top-three finishes at the Desert Classic, JAGS Junior Championship and JAGS President's Junior Cup. She is currently ranked 126th in the country on the Junior Golf Scoreboard. Kim (Torrance, Calif.) joins the long tradition of quality players from Torrance High School. In 2011, she finished third at the CIF Southern California Regional and eighth at the CIF Girl's State Championship. Kim was also ranked in the top-100 on Junior Golf Scoreboard in 2011.
TEARE HAS A BUSY SUMMER
Junior Kassidy Teare participated in two major championships this past summer as she qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in Dupont, Wash., and the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Glen Cove, N.Y. This was the third consecutive year a 49er women's golfer as advanced to the WAPL Championship and second year in a row that a 49er has qualified to both USGA championship events.
49ERS WELCOME EDWARDS AS ASSISTANT COACH
This past summer, Long Beach State head women's golf coach Joey Cerulle announced the hiring of Alexis Edwards as assistant coach. Edwards replaces Sue Ewart who retired after serving 12 years as the 49ers' head coach and the past five seasons as an assistant. Edwards comes to the Beach from Cal State Monterey Bay where she served as head coach the last three seasons. She also served as interim head coach at Fresno State during the fall season in 2011. Edwards was a four-year letterwinner on the women's golf team at BYU.
