Beach Softball Turns Tables With Walkoff Win Over Boise State

Las Vegas, Nev. - Long Beach State bounced back from a walkoff loss in the first game Friday with a walkoff win against Boise State, taking down the Broncos 3-2 in a late-night contest. LT Torres went 2-for-3 and drove in two of the three 49er runs in the win.
Boise State took an early lead against the 49ers, as Devon Bridges hit a two-run home run off of Amanda Hansen to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead.
In the third, Christian Carbajal entered the circle for the 49ers in relief, and had a tremendous outing, allowing just one hit while keeping the Broncos scoreless over the entirety of her five innings of work.
The 49ers were able to pull back one run in the fourth inning, as Darian Tautalafua doubled with one out, and Torres followed with her first extra-base hit of the season in another double to get the Beach on the board.
Torres came through again for the Beach in the sixth. Julia Lombardi doubled to start the inning and after a sacrifice pushed the freshman to third, a single by Torres brought home the tying run to even the score at 2-2.
After a delay due to the sprinklers coming on at the field, Long Beach State maintained the momentum in the bottom of the seventh. Haley Tobler singled to start the rally, and then a base hit from Lauren Lombardi put runners on the corners with one out.
Boise State was able to induce a groundout for the second out of the inning, but Darian Tautalafua walked to load the bases, and then Christina Montoya was hit by a pitch to score Tobler and bring home the winning run.
Long Beach State is back in action at the Easton Desert Classic with a pair of games tomorrow. The 49ers start by playing Nevada at 11:15 a.m., and will then face Utah State at 1:30 p.m.
