SEAL BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State recorded a 291 in Tuesday's final round of The Gold Rush presented by Southern California Ford Dealers to capture the team title at Old Ranch Country Club.
"I'm so proud of how the girls responded today,' said an ecstatic head coach Joey Cerulle. "We defended our home turf and did everything right. It's a great start to the spring season, and it's the best way to commence a long season ahead of us."
This was the first tournament title for LBSU this year and the first since 2013 when the 49ers won The Gold Rush at Yorba Linda Country Club.
The 49ers completed the two-day tournament at 19-over-par 883, to win the team title by a comfortable 19 shots over Fresno State (+38) in second and 24 strokes over UC Riverside and BYU (+43) tied for third.

She would quickly recover making four consecutive birdies starting from the par-5 No. 9 hole to go 2-under through 15. The Vista, Calif. native collected her fifth birdie of the day on the par-5 16th to go 3-under on Nos. 16 and 17 until closing out her final hole with a bogey.
