St. GEORGE, Utah - Long Beach State finished in eighth place in the season opening 11th Annual Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course.
LBSU recorded a final round 295 to finish the 36-hole tournament at 8-over-par 584.
College of Charleston won the team title at 13-under 563, leading the field of 13 teams by six shots over tournament host Southern Utah (-7) in second and 8 strokes over Utah Valley (-5) in third.
Senior Kevin Techakanokboon was the top player for the 49ers, tying for 13th place after carding a 71 to finish at 3-under 141.
Sophomore Agostino Milazzo tied for 21st, carding a 73 for a 1-over 145 followed by senior JJ Holen tying for 32nd after posting a 74 to finish at 3-over.
Juniors Daniel Chian and Kevin Lee tied for 52nd at 8-over after Chian shot a 78 and Lee recording a 77.
Freshman Ryder Epson playing as an individual, tied for 68th after shooting a low 75 at 12-over.
Kenny You of Dixie State won individual medalist with an 8-under 136, leading the field of 81 players by one shot.
LBSU returns to action Feb. 18-20, traveling to Lihue, Kauai, Hawai'i for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
