Beach Tennis Wraps Up Jack Kramer Collegiate Tournament

Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. - Long Beach State went 5-2 in Saturday's action to conclude the Jack Kramer Collegiate Tournament at the nearby Jack Kramer Tennis Club. Ebba Unden, Georgie Sanders, Laura Eales and Julie Gerard each picked up singles wins for the Beach, and the team of Unden and Sanders scored a victory in the 49ers' only doubles match of the day.
Unden split her matches on Saturday, falling 6-4, 6-3 to Sophie Chow of San Diego, but defeated Taylor LeFridge of UC Irvine 6-0, 6-1 in her other match. Unden was also victorious alongside Sanders, scoring an impressive 8-1 win over the O'Neill/Sneed pairing from Ohio State.
On her own, Sanders defeated Kinga Gartner of Arizona, 6-3, 7-6 (2), one of two 49er wins over the Wildcats on Saturday. Eales took down Arizona's Shaynie Austin, 1-6, 7-6 (7), 10-4.
Gerard was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Olivia Noble of Fresno State, and Hayley Thompson dropped a 6-1, 2-6, 10-4 decision to Noble's Bulldog teammate Galina Bykova.
The Beach now enters a two-month break from official competition, gearing up for the Beach Tennis Winter Classic Jan. 15-17 at Rhodes Tennis Center. Just two weeks later, the team season gets underway as the 49ers host San Francisco on Jan. 30, 2016.
