LONG BEACH, Calif. - For the first time since 2008, Long Beach State is back in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The Dirtbags will be heading to Gainesville, Fla. as the No. 2 seed in the Gainesville Regional.
Florida is the host and No. 1 seed in the regional and the No. 2 national seed in the postseason tournament. Long Beach State will face third-seed North Carolina in its opening game of the double-elimination tournament at 10 a.m. (PT) on ESPN3. The Gators will play the College of Charleston on the other side of the bracket.
The Dirtbags enter the postseason tournament for the first time under head coach Troy Buckley with a 32-24 overall record and on the heels of a second-place finish in the Big West Conference. LBSU has won its last five games in a row and 10 of its last 11.
