IRVINE, Calif. - The Long Beach State track & field team opened the 20th annual adidas/Steve Scott Invitational with a handful of field events and a couple distance races Friday at Anteater Stadium.

Kylee Martin led the way with an individual victory in the 3000m steeplechase as she established a personal-record 11:03.62. Her time ranks fourth in school history. Ashley Carerra was also seventh in the 5000m (18:00).

Marina Shelton was LBSU's top finisher in the hammer throw, coming in fifth overall (177-08). Fatima Vergara followed with a sixth-place showing (170-04).

Jodi Lambert matched her season best in the pole vault, clearing 11-07.75 (12th overall), while Jordan Agnew added a top-20 performance in the long jump at 17-07.5.

On the men's side, both Cameron Pizzica and Camren Woods registered personal bests in the long jump. Pizzica finished fourth with a leap of 24-01.5, while Woods came in fifth at 23-07.25.

Robert Marlow took third in the hammer throw with a toss of 172-09.

Jose Herrera ran a solid 9:33.15 to place sixth in his first-ever 3000m steeplechase competition.

Sam Bautista closed out the evening with a third-place finish in the 5000m. He clocked in with a lifetime-best 14:57.06.

Long Beach State will continue its stay at the Steve Scott Invitational on Saturday, May 3, with both the field and running events starting at noon.
