Fullerton, Calif. - Long Beach State was held to just five hits, and dropped behind early against Wisconsin in a 5-0 loss Saturday. Freshman Lauren Lombardi went 2-for-3 to lead the 49ers.

Long Beach State's potent offense was held in check by Wisconsin's Cassandra Darrah, who allowed five hits one the night while completing a shutout.

Wisconsin (9-9) grabbed the lead in the second inning, capitalizing on an error from Long Beach State (15-7), along with a double from Mary Massei. The Badgers then added three more runs in the third inning, with the big hit coming on a triple form Marissa Mersch.

Darian Tautalafua singled to start the top of the seventh inning, and Lombardi doubled to put two runners in scoring position, but Darrah was able to grab the final two outs and hold on for the complete game victory.

Long Beach State closes out its time at the Judi Garman Classic Sunday, facing Texas at 2 p.m. at Anderson Family Field.
