
Teare Takes Over First Place At Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - For the second straight day, Kassidy Teare fired a 1-under-par 71 in Saturday's second round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at Highlands Ranch Golf Course to take over first place and help Long Beach State hold onto third.
LBSU recorded a second round score of 298 for a two-day total of 15-over 591. The 49ers are six shots behind second place Kansas (+9) and eight strokes behind Kansas State (+7) in first. Tournament host Denver and Nebraska are tied for fourth, 11 shots behind LBSU going into Sunday's final round.
Teare holds a one-shot lead over the Jawhawks' Yupaporn Kawinpakorn and the Wildcats' Oliva Elasson tied for second.
Teare started the round with her first of two bogeys to go 1-over. The junior from Vista, Calif. would par the next four holes to pick up her first birdie on the par-4, sixth and paring her last three holes, finishing the front-nine at even.
After making the turn onto the last nine holes, Teare posted two consecutive birdies on Nos. 10 and 11 to go 2-under through 13 holes. On the par-4, 14th, Teare picked up her only bogey on the back-nine to go 1-under on her remaining last four holes.
Junior Shawnee Martinez carded a 73 to place sixth at 2-over and senior Chaewon Park posted a 76 to tie for eighth at 4-over.
Redshirt freshman Savannah Knox is tied for 31st at 11-over after recording a 78 and junior Janelle Sua is tied for 45th at 14-over after posting a 78.
Freshman Felicia Taverrite and sophomore Sachi Hamada, playing as individuals for the 49ers, tied for 45th and and 51st respectively. Both players shot an 80 as Taverrite is 14-over and Hamada finished one shot back.
Final round concludes on Sunday with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. (PST) and will be paired with the Jayhawks and Wildcats.
