Simone Hoey Wins Lakewood Women's City Championship

LAKEWOOD, Calif. - Former Long Beach State women's golfer Simone Hoey fired a final round 65 to win the Lakewood Women's City Championship on Friday at the Lakewood Country Club.
Hoey finished the two-day, 36-hole tournament at 14-under-par 134, winning by a comfortable six shots over second-place Clariss Guce (-8) of Cal State Northridge and nine strokes over Victoria Fallgren (-5) of Gonzaga.
Senior Rochelle Chan finished in fourth with a 1-under 147, followed by junior Chaewon Park and Ashley Greer tied for eighth at 1-over and sophomore Janelle Sua tying for 10th (+2).
Hoey's score of 65 set a new course record as she beat the previous low of 66 by one stroke.
The Rancho Cucamonga native closed out her four-year career at LBSU this past year, winning individual medalist at the Fresno State Lexus Classic and leading the 49ers to two tournament titles and a second-place finish at the Big West Conference Championship.
