Softball Hosts CSUN Wednesday; Travels to Pacific This Weekend

The Long Beach State softball team (25-15, 7-2) will host Cal State Northridge (15-23, 1-5) on Wednesday at 3:00 pm in the 49er Softball Complex before traveling to Stockton to face Pacific (22-18, 7-2) in a weekend series.
The 49ers opened up the conference season with back-to-back series wins and stand in second-place with Pacific, while Hawai'i continues to lead the Big West at 9-0.
LBSU is 52-42 all-time against the Matadors and won the last meeting, 9-4. Long Beach has also won the last 10 series between the two schools. The 49ers lead the all-time series with the Titans 67-29, including winning the last series 2-1. The 49ers have won the last two games against Pacific.
LAST TIME OUT: The 49ers recorded their second Big West series win, defeating Cal State Fullerton in games two (1-0) and three (7-4), while losing game one (4-1). LBSU overcame a 4-0 deficit in game three, scoring seven runs in the third inning to win.
APRIL 17 DOUBLEHEADER WITH CSUN TO AIR ON ESPNU: The April 17 doubleheader between LBSU and Cal State Northridge will be televised live on ESPNU beginning at 1:00 pm.
JONES-WESLEY NAMED BIG WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK: The junior earned her first weekly honor of the season after pitching two complete games versus Cal State Fullerton. She retired the final 13 batters she faced while tallying six strikeouts in LBSU's 1-0 victory over CSUF. Jones-Wesley then tallied five strikeouts in a 7-4 victory over the Titans. She posted a 1.50 ERA while walking one and striking out 11 in 14 innings pitched.
