
49ers finish SDSU tournament with 7-1 loss to Aztecs

SANTEE, Calif. - Shayna Kimbrough and Ashlynn Booker each had two hits for Long Beach State but it wasn't enough as the 49ers lost 7-1 to San Diego State on Sunday in the San Diego Classic.
Kimbrough went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Booker was 2-for-3. Karli Sandoval drove in LBSU's only run with a RBI fielder's choice to tie the game 1-1 in the third.
Erin Jones-Wesley (7-7) got the loss after giving up two earned runs on six hits in three innings. Rebecca Arbino (5-4) picked up the win for San Diego State (12-11). She allowed just one run while giving up nine hits.
Long Beach State (7-15) returns to action this week it hosts the Long Beach State Invitational. The 49ers open play Thursday with a pair of games. They host Eastern Kentucky at 4 p.m. and Oregon State at 7 p.m. LBSU also faces UCLA Friday at 7 p.m., North Carolina Saturday at 7 p.m. and Charleston Southern Sunday at 3:45 p.m. All five Long Beach State games will be played at the Mayfair Softball Field in Lakewood.
