Long Beach State tops Pomona-Pitzer in water polo

Pomona, Calif. - POMONA, Calif. - Chelsea Parks scored three goals and Melissa Matheson added two as the 49ers defeated Pomona-Pitzer 8-5 on Saturday.
Parks got the 49ers started with a first period goal, but back-to-back goals from Matheson helped the 49ers open up a 4-1 lead in the second quarter.
Pomona-Pitzer cut the Long Beach State lead down to one with a penalty goal, but Julia Garyfallou's third period goal gave the 49ers a cushion, and Long Beach State went on to win 8-5. The 49ers have now won five of their last six matches.
