
49ers lose in overtime at No. 16 UC Davis

Long Beach, Calif. - Krizia Cerda scored two goals for Long Beach State as the No. 13 49ers forced overtime against UC Davis, but the No. 16 Aggies scored twice in the extra periods to get the win 9-7.
UC Davis started off the game with a quick start, scoring the first two goals and taking a 3-1 lead after the end of the first period. That lead was further extended in the second period, as Aggies scored two goals to Long Beach State's one, leading the game 5-2 at halftime.
Long Beach State charged back in the second half to close the gap. Lauren Sieprath, Cerda and Julia Garyfallou scored the first three goals in the third period to tie the game at 5-5. The Aggies were able to hold onto the lead, however, as Carey Faber scored with 2:22 left in the period.
In the fourth, the comeback was complete, as Chelsea Parks tied the game at the start of the quarter, and the 49ers took their first lead of the game at 4:36 when Meaghan Leonard scored. The Aggies tied the game with a score with one minute remaining to force the game to overtime.
In extra time, UC Davis scored one goal in each of the overtime periods to take the 9-7 win. Long Beach State returns to the campus pool for the final three games of conference play prior to the Big West Tournament.
