
Reedy leads 49ers on first day of Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Heath Reedy highlighted the first day of the Stanford Invitational for the Long Beach State track and field team as he won his section of the men's 5000-meter run Friday afternoon.
Reedy crossed the finish line in 14 minutes, 16.62 seconds to finish ahead of the pack in Section 4. His mark ranks him fifth in school history.
On the women's side, Rosa Del Toro was the 49ers' top finisher, clocking in at 16:55.43 to place ninth in Section 4. She now ranks fifth on the LBSU all-time charts. Jennifer Rodriguez also came in 24th (17:18.89), while Nina Moore was 30th (17:31.49).
Jessica Barnard also competed in the 1500m, finishing with a lifetime-best 4:42.83.
Long Beach State closes out action at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday, while the rest of the squad begins action at the Cal-Nevada Championships in Claremont.
