RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Long Beach State track and field team got an early start to its outdoor season as it competed in a non-scoring dual meet at Riverside Community College.
"It was a successful outing with a lot of good performances at an early stage of the outdoor season," said 49er head coach Andy Sythe. "We showed great improvement in marks from this meet a year ago."
LBSU posted victories in nine men's events and six women's events. Nathan Alade and Cameron Gillett led the 49ers on the track, while twin brothers Dillon and Justin Fox guided the jumps squad. In the throws, Cesar Puga, Austin Elmore and Ryan Rosales had strong performances and Josh Ruff, Chris Walden and Andrew Garcia paced Long Beach State in the distances.
On the women's side, Kayla Kamaka, Amanda Klinchuch, Sara Macey and Nkechi Okonkwo led the way in the jumps. Alexandra Cervantes and Lynn Patu also posted solid showings in the throws. Amber Clark, Saedra Wright and Dee Lars shined in the sprint events, while Veronica Franco and Prism Garcia paced the 49ers in the distances.
Complete results were not available at the time of release.
