San Diego, Calif. - Senior goaltender Kristen Stragier made a game-high 13 saves, but a lack of offense doomed the 49ers in a 6-0 loss to No. 7 Michigan in the team's second game on Saturday.

The 49er defense performed well throughout the day, holding UC Santa Barbara and Michigan to eight goals total through two matches. However, the Wolverine defense proved to be just as stout in thwarting the LBSU attack.

Long Beach State held close to the Wolverines through the first half, giving up just one goal in each of the first two periods to head to the break trailing 2-0. Three Michigan goals in the third period gave the Wolverines a large lead however, and they were able to maintain their defensive pressure throughout the final period.

Returning to the pool for two more games Sunday at the Triton Invitational, Long Beach State will play another Big West foe in Cal State Northridge at 9:50 a.m. before playing in the placement round later in the afternoon.
