Chan named LBSU Student-Athlete of the Week

LONG BEACH - Sophomore Rochelle Chan was named Long Beach State Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance at last week's Rose City Collegiate in Aurora, Ore., where she won individual medalist and helped the 49ers capture their first tournament title this season.

Chan recorded a career and tournament low 66 in the opening round of the 14-team Rose City Collegiate at Langdon Farms Golf Course. The Torrance, Calif. native finished the 54-hole tournament at 4-over par 220, winning by three-strokes over teammate senior Monica Villarreal (+7) and Madchen Ly of Fresno State. This was Chan's first career tournament win.

LBSU held onto a 10-shot lead over Fresno State and 13 shots over San Francisco. The 49ers finished the two-day tournament at 36-over 900 (298-299-303).

The 49ers return to action Oct. 10-12, for the Price's "Give `em" Five Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. hosted by New Mexico State.
