Beach Tennis opens Fullerton Invitational with perfect day

Fullerton, Calif. - Long Beach State played ten matches on Friday at the Fullerton Invitational, and came away with ten wins as every player advanced to the round of 16. Play for the 49ers will continue tomorrow.
Long Beach State had only one doubles match on the day, as the squads' three other doubles teams had byes into the round of 16. Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar defeated McClaran /Vadali of Portland State to advance.
In singles, Long Beach State had five players placed with byes into the round of 32. Klaudia Malenovska dropped Melissa Valenzuela 6-2, 6-1, and Anna Jeczmionka defeated Nigora Sirojiddinova 6-3, 6-3 in the two toughest matches for the players that had byes. Jaklin Alawi and Deborah Armstrong both only lost a single game in advancing, and Anais Dallara posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Nayantara Vadali of Portland State, who was unable to pick up a game against the 49ers in either singles or doubles.
Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar, in addition to playing in their doubles match earlier in the day, both had a pair of singles matches to advance. Sarah Cantlay defeated UC Riverside's Tayler Raney 6-4, 6-3, before defeating Fullerton's Monica Rodriugez by the same score, while Luzar dropped Estefania Limpias of CS Bakersfield 6-3, 6-1 before moving to the round of 16 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ryma Korab of CS Northridge.
The 49ers will have seven players in action for singles and all eight players participating in doubles as the round of 16 kicks off for both singles and doubles on Saturday, October 9.
