
Jaklin Alawi eliminated at ITA All-American championships

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Sophomore Jaklin Alawi played in both singles and doubles Saturday at the ITA/Riviera All-American Championship prequalifying, losing a tough singles match in three sets 7-6 (2), 1-6, 6-1 to Akron's Angelina Jogasuria.
Ranked #100 in the nation, Alawi was invited to participate in pre-qualifying for the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships, a national championship invitational event during the fall season. Alawi's loss was in the opening round of the championship.
Also competing in doubles with junior Anais Dallara, the 49ers lost in the Round of 32 against Sacramento State's Clarisse Baca and Maria Meliuk. Baca/Meliuk took the match against Alawi/Dallara 8-2 to end the tournament for the participating 49ers.
Long Beach State will be back in action next weekend, as the full team participates in the Fullerton Invitational, running from Oct. 8 through Oct. 10.
