Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State completed a three-game sweep of UC Davis behind TJ Mittelstaedt's game-winning triple, taking the series finale 3-2.

Trailing 2-1 in the seventh inning following a superb pitching performance from UC Davis closer turned starter Scott Lyman, the Dirtbags got a rally started with a hit batter and a walk, setting up a chance to tie the game with a two-out hit. Mittelstaedt then delivered in the clutch, turning on a 2-2 fastball and driving it to the wall to give Long Beach State the lead they needed.

Josh Corrales, who had taken over from David Born in the top of the seventh hurled another hitless frame to set up Charlie Ruiz, who retired the side in order in the ninth for his 11th save.

Long Beach State took the lead in the fourth inning, with Mittelstaedt again being prominently involved. The right-fielder walked to start the inning, and then stole second to move into scoring position for Derek Legg, who doubled to put the Dirtbags ahead 1-0.

Andrew Gagnon, who had allowed only three hits over five innings for Long Beach State, surrendered two runs in the sixth. Michael Aldrete doubled to start the inning, and after a bunt, two more singles came to score a pair as the Aggies took the lead until the seventh inning.

Lyman finished with four hits allowed over 6.2 innings, but gave up all three runs to take the loss. Long Beach State remains home until Tuesday, facing Pepperdine at 6:30 p.m. in Blair Field before hitting the road for another conference series against UC Santa Barbara.
