
Water Polo falls to No. 1 Stanford 7-2

Long Beach, Calif. - Branwyn Lee and Meaghan Leonard each scored a goal as the women's water polo lost to the top-ranked Stanford Cardinal, 7-2, Saturday at the Long Beach State Campus Pool.
Stanford (16-1) scored the first three goals before Lee got the Beach on the board with a goal with 2:12 left in the first period in front of the Cardinal net on a nice one-time pass.
The Cardinal scored another three goals over the course of the second and third periods before the 49ers Meaghan Leonard scored the final goal for the Beach with 3:24 left in the game on another fine pass trimming the lead to 6-2.
Long Beach State's Kristen Stragier had 10 saves for the 49ers while Amber Oland had seven saves for the Cardinal.
The 49ers (7-13) travel to Big West Conference rival Pacific (6-17) for their next match on April 4 at Noon and then play at UC Davis the following day also at Noon. The Beach will return home April 11 with a match against Cal State Northridge at Noon.
