Knipe Coaches Junior Team To Championship

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State Head Men's Volleyball Coach Alan Knipe recently led his junior squad to the gold medal at the 2008 USA Junior Olympic Boys' Volleyball Championships in Sandy, Utah (July 2-9). Knipe's Balboa Bay Volleyball Club 18-Quiksilver won the title over Epic of Poway. Assisting Knipe at the tournament was former 49er great Rocky Ciarelli.
Knipe's squad won every match it played, beginning with pool play on July 2nd. They dropped only one set in the entire tournament, while winning in the semifinal and championship matches in straight sets.
