Fullerton, Calif. - Long Beach State's troubles with the Titans continued, as the 49ers fell on the road to Cal State Fullerton 3-0. Bridgette Pagano pitched the 49ers, giving up two earned runs as the 49ers fall to 37-14 on the year, dropping their first conference series of the year.
Cal State Fullerton took an early lead against the 49ers in the second inning. K.C. Craddick opened the second with a single, and was pushed to third with two outs. However, Pagano's chances to get out of the inning ended with a Courtney. Martinez single, and two more singles from Crystal Vierya and Katie Gollhardt put the Titans ahead 3-0 at the end of two.
Jessica Doucette held the 49ers scoreless to record her fifth shutout of the year, allowing three hits and striking out five. Pagano pitched well with exception of the second inning, finishing with three strikeouts and giving up two earned runs.
Brooke LeSage doubled to right field to begin the top of the seventh, but Doucette came back with three straight outs to finish the game, picking up her 13th win of the year.
The 49ers end the regular season next weekend with a home series against Pacific. Note that the times are different, with a doubleheader on Friday before the final game of the regular season on Saturday.
