FRESNO-- No. 15-ranked Fresno State (15-7) cruised by No. 37-ranked Long Beach State (14-6) 6-1, in the regular season finale for the 49ers.
The Bulldogs win snapped a five-game win streak by the 49ers, who enter next week's Big West Tournament having won 13 of the last 15 regular season matches. Five of the team's six losses have come to top-20 teams.
On Friday, the No. 3-ranked team of Melanie Gloria and Tinesta Rowe clinched the doubles point with a 8-3 win over Long Beach's Stephanie Bengson and Hannah Grady, ranked No. 36 nationally, before the Bulldogs won five of the six singles matches.
Lisa Sutton was the lone winner for the 49ers, defeating Bruna Paes, 6-1, 6-2, while also teaming with Deborah Armstrong to win in doubles play.
The 49ers are looking to reach their sixth NCAA Tournament in seven year starting April 25 in Indian Wells.
