49ers Get Past Aggies 6-1

LONG BEACH-- No. 40-ranked Long Beach State (7-4) posted their fourth-straight win, sweeping all three doubles matches, before struggling to win five out of six singles matches for a 6-1 victory over UC Davis (7-6).
The 49ers now will set their sights on No. 47-ranked UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in a Black and Blue Rivalry match and a preview of what could be the Big West Conference Finals in late April. A shuttle bus will take fans from the front of the Walter Pyramid to El Dorado Tennis Courts throughout the day, corresponding with Homecoming on campus.
It was business as usual for No. 72-ranked Hannah Grady, as the junior won her sixth match over her last eight, cruising past Randi Schuler at the No. 1 position, 6-3, 6-3. The doubles team of Grady and Stephanie Bengson have even hotter, as of late, winning their seventh straight, following a 8-1 win over Schuler and Desiree Stone.
Bengson also won her singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, before it took three sets for Deborah Armstrong, Stephanie Jeanes and Lisa Sutton to win it for the 49ers.
Armstrong and Sutton won 8-2 at the No. 3 position for their sixth-straight win, as the 49ers have won eight-straight doubles points this season.
Emma Shapiro posted the only win for the Aggies, defeating Jessica Weeks, 6-4, 6-4.
