McAtee Leads Beach Effort At Spartan Invitational

Freshman Lindsey McAtee led three 49ers in the top 50 as Long Beach State finished in 13th place at the Spartan Invitational. Long Beach State finished the two day event with a final score of 967, 103 over par.
Handicapped by the loss of Kylie Kimura, who did not play on Tuesday, the 49ers posted a 336 total round, their highest during the 54-hole event. However, the 49ers still had good play from Lindsey McAtee, who finished with a third-round 80 to finish in a tie for 38th with a total score of 236, 20 over par. Just behind her, both Katy Barrett and Reina Rogers finished the tournament at 240, 24 over par. Kira Murashige rounded out the 49ers scoring with a final round 91.
Selanee Henderson of UC Irvine finished with a final-round 75 to protect her day one lead to win the event. California took the team title, finishing five strokes ahead of host San Jose State University.
The 49ers' spring season continues next week as Long Beach State heads to the UNLV Spring Invitational in Las Vegas. First round play begins on Monday, March 10.
