
49ers Sweep Past Nevada 7-0

COSTA MESA-- No. 32-ranked Long Beach State (11-4) continued their longest winning streak of the season, sweeping Nevada (3-7) 7-0 on Saturday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Courts, for their eighth win in a row.
Despite the No. 1 doubles team of Hannah Grady and Stephanie Bengson losing for the first time in 11 matches, 8-2, the No. 3 team of Deborah Armstrong and Lisa Sutton, followed by the No. 2 team of Jessica Weeks and Stephanie Jeanes each won their doubles matches to win the first point of the morning.
The doubles trifecta has now the point in 12 straight matches.
Weeks then followed with a win at the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-2 over Lais Ogata to put the 49ers up 3-0, before Sutton closed out the win with a win at the No. 6 position over Ly-Huong Dinh 6-1, 6-3.
Stephanie Bengson, the reigning Big West Player of the Week, after trailing 4-1 in the first set, defeated No. 40-ranked Maria Mizyuk, 7-6, 1-6, 10-5 to close to within eight wins of the all-time singles record.
