MALIBU-- No. 18-ranked Pepperdine (13-3) snapped No. 39-ranked Long Beach State's (11-5) season-best eight-game win streak following a 5-2 victory on Friday afternoon.

The two points for the 49ers were big ones, as No. 116-ranked Hannah Grady defeated No. 74-ranked Sylvia Kosakowski 7-6, 4-6, 10-3 at the top of the singles order, while Stephanie Bengson defeated No. 57-ranked Anarnika Bhargava, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 as the No. 2 postition.

"Both Stephanie and Hannah played solid matches in singles today," said Head Coach Jennifer Hilt-Costellto. "They both played top, quality opponents and were able to stay tough and stay positive and come away with two huge wins."

The Waves opened the match by winning two out of three doubles matches, snapping the 49ers 12-match win streak in winning the doubles point. The No. 3 team of Deborah Armstrong and Lisa Sutton won the only doubles match on the day for the 49ers, winning 8-4. It was the duo's 11th win in a row. The No. 31 team of Bengson and Grady, narrowly lost to the No. 7 team of Kosakowski/Dulgheru, 8-6.

The 49ers are next at CS Northridge on March 28 as they continue their four-match road trip.
