LONG BEACH--No. 32-ranked Long Beach State (9-4) began a busy week of matches, cruising past Purdue (2-8) at the El Dorado Tennis Courts, 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. The 49ers have now won six straight as they host Penn tomorrow at 1 p.m. and Nevada at the Costa Mesa Tennis Courts on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The doubles trio again posted the first point of the match, winning the doubles point for the 10th-straight time, led by Stephanie Bengson and Hannah Grady, who won 9-7 at the No. 1 position for the ninth-straight time. Stephanie Jeanes and Jessica Weeks made easy work at the No. 2 position, winning 8-1, while Deborah Armstrong and Lisa Sutton won 9-7.

Four singles players won in straight sets.

No. 72-ranked Hannah Grady posted her sixth-straight win, defeating Brooke Beier 6-1, 6-2. Stephanie Bengson also won in straight sets, at the No. 2 position, as did Stephanie Jeanes, Jessica Weeks and Lisa Sutton at the bottom three spots of the lineup.
