49ers Defeat Arizona 6-0 in Continued Match

TUCSON, AZ - It took 48 hours but No. 38-ranked Long Beach State (4-4) defeated the No. 39-ranked University of Arizona (5-3) 6-0 to split their time in the desert over the weekend.
After starting the match on Friday, and leading in four singles matches prior to rain, the 49ers completed the task on Sunday morning, winning all six singles matches led by Hannah Grady, who defeated No. 43-ranked Danielle Steinberg 6-1, 6-2. It was Grady's second win over a ranked opponent in as many weeks and upped her record to 13-5 on the year. Doubles was not played.
Stephanie Bengson, Deborah Armstrong, Stephanie Jeanes and Jessica Weeks all won in straight sets, while Lisa Sutton rebounded after a 6-1 loss to beat Kaite Orletsky 6-3, 6-4.
The 49ers are next in action when they travel to UC Riverside on Friday.
