Long Beach, Calif. - Sahar Haghdan beat her defender and dribbled past goalie Sarah Peters to score the only goal of the game, as Long Beach State (7-3-2) defeated UC Davis (5-3-2) 1-0 at George Allen Field on Friday afternoon.
Haghdan's goal, her first of the season, came in the 36-minute mark of the first half, and it was a hard fought battle on defense for the rest of the game. UC Davis took nine shots, and LBSU took seven, with four shots on goal, but the 49er defense held the Aggies silent. Lindsay Bullock and Hayley Bolt each took two shots.
Goalkeeper Liz Ramos had a total of six saves, five coming in the second half, earning her fifth shutout of the year. It was the 49ers' seventh shutout of the season, and they ended the Aggies' four-game win streak.
The 49ers will continue conference play on Sunday at home as they take on Pacific at Noon. It will be the 49ers' second match of a four-game home stand.
