UC Davis Takes Series From 49ers Bridgette Pagano (18-10) saw her consecutive scoreless streak come to an end as she gave up an unearned run in the third inning and an earned run in the seventh. Pagano had tossed 29 consecutive innings without giving up a run before today and suffered her first loss in her last seven starts. Whitney Radcliff had two hits including a triple and Panita Thanatharn scored the 49ers lone run. UC Davis struck first in the top of the third inning when Paine reached base on a bunt and advanced to third as the errant throw from Pagano skipped by rightfielder Franciska Morlet. Paine then scored on a double by Julie Stauder. The 49ers came right back in the bottom half of the inning when Thanatharn had a one-out single and eventually scored on a double by Brianna Goad. The Beach, who stranded 13 runners, had an excellent opportunity to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Radcliff led off with a triple, but Hancock was able to get out of the jam as she retired the next three batters. The Aggies scored the game winning run in the seventh inning as Mandi Salcido had a one-out double and eventually scored on a Paine single. The Beach returns to action next Friday (doubleheader) and Saturday at 1 pm at the 49er Softball Complex as they host Big West Conference foe UC Santa Barbara in their final regular season series. Seniors Kourtnee Gervasi and Panita Thanatharn will be honored before the game on Saturday.
