LONG BEACH, CA – Junior shortstop Jessica Beaver (Hemet) was selected to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I West Region Team as announced on Thursday, May 17. Beaver, an All-Big West selection, garnered second team honors in her first all-region recognition.
Beaver had her best season offensively as she led the 49ers in batting average (.356), runs scored (31), RBI (41) and homeruns (10). She also racked up 48 hits with a .630 slugging percentage. In conference games Beaver hit for a .352 average totaling 19 hits, including four homeruns and 13 RBI, while striking out only eight times in 54 at bats.
Seven other Big West players were named all-region with four of them joining Beaver on the second team including UC Santa Barbara's Jennifer Davis, Cal State Fullerton's Candice Baker, Cal State Northridge's Christina Saenz, and Pacific's Casey Goldsand. Big West Field Player of the Year Lisa Modglin (Cal Poly), Jennifer Curtier (Pacific) and Gina Carbonatto (Pacific) all garnered first team honors.
