Thanatharn Named Finalist for CLASS Award

Thanatharn Named Finalist to Lowe's Senior Class Award KANSAS CITY, MO-- Long Beach State senior third baseman Panita Thanatharn is one of 20 finalists for the Lowe's Senior Class Award, presented annually to the senior softball player who excels both on and off the field. The senior from Chino Hills enters the week third on the team in hitting, at .314, after being told she may never play again after a collision at the plate during the start of her sophomore season. She received the school's Todd Hart Courage Award in October, 2003, redshirted the 2004 season and despite playing in just 47 games the last two years, has been the team's captain and received a sixth year of eligibility. An academic all-star and an academic all-conference selection, she received her degree in kinesiology and is working towards her Master's. Candidates were selected on personal qualities that define a complete student athlete. Ten finalists will be selected from a panel of national media and placed on a national ballot beginning on April 26. winners will be announced the week of May 28 during the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
