Women Post Solid Showing at the Steve Scott Invite IRVINE,CA -- Long Beach State Track and Field completed a solid two days at the Steve Scott Invite, especially on the women's side as five women posted top-10 marks in their respective events. Patrice White picked up top-10 marks with personal-bests in the 100 and 200-meter races, while Jessica Branker had a personal-best in the 100 meter, as both runners just missed qualifying for the NCAA Regionals in the 100, with both moving into the top-five all-time. White finished third with a time of 11.77 in the 100-meter race, and was fifth in 200-meter with a time of 24.49 Branker's time was 11.78, as the NCAA Regional qualifying standard is 11.75. The 4x400-meter relay team won on the women's side, while the men's team was second. The 4x100-meter team was also second with a time of 45.59, second-best all-time. Ericka Feazell posted a top-10 mark in the 100-meter hurdles (14.08), bettering her best by .33 seconds, while Tisha Uwadiale (40'0.75") and Miia Mobley (39'8.5") had personal-bests in the triple jump, also marks in the top-10. Jill Reynolds (12'5.5") posted another regional qualifier in the pole vault, finishing fourth. On the men's side, Brent Gray was second in the 100 (10.47) and 200-meter races (20.81), while Alex Goldberg posted a personal-best in the 200-meter (21.69). David Sampson posted a season-best 167'9" in the discus for fourht and also was third in the shot put. Jesssee McClennan and Erick Haman qualified for the Big West for the first time in the pole vault. Finally, Robert Gomez had a personal-best int he 110-meter race. AND ON FRIDAY... In the hammer, Kellen Boaz threw an 11-foot personal-best in the hammer, at 170'0", while Rob Jennings threw 190'0" and Ezra Kwong, a two-time Big West Athlete of the Week, tossed 187'. Tyson Gray just missed a regional qualifier when he won the javelin by five feet with a toss of 196'. Jennifer Onyeagbako threw a personal-best, keeping her at No. 3 all-time in the hammer, at 177'7". |
