Beach Takes Series With 5-3 Win

49ers Take Series From Matadors With Win With the win, Pagano improved her record to 12-6 and Kelly Cross earned her first save for The Beach. Mercedes Lovato (8-8) received the loss for CSUN. The 49ers scored in the first inning as Panita Thanatharn reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and then scored on a double by Lacy Tyler for the game's first run. The Beach added three more runs in the fourth on back to back doubles from Kourtnee Gervasi and Stefanie Trutanic. Northridge threatened in the fifth inning as they scored two runs off of Pagano, but kept her composure as she struck out four Matadors for the game. CSUN also threatened in the seventh as they loaded the bases, but Cross was able to settle down and end the game on a groundball. Long Beach State travels next weekend to Cal Poly for a three-game Big West Conference series on Friday and Saturday. The 49ers return home on April 14 and 15, as they face cross-town rival Cal State Fullerton.
