Pagano Tosses No-Hitter as 49ers Win Two In game one, the 49ers pushed one run across in the second inning when Levine's triple scored Brooke LeSage. With two outs in the third inning, LBSU scored three runs highlighted by Lacy Tyler's RBI single and the 49ers continued to rally in the fourth inning as Goad's triple plated Whitney Radcliff and Stefanie Trutanic. The 49ers were able to get one more in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Trutanic. In game two, Kelly Cross (4-5) picked up her fourth win allowing four runs on 10 hits while striking out three in 7.0 innings pitched. Panita Thanatharn led the 49er offense going 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Whitney Radcliff chipped in with two hits and an RBI. The 49ers struck in the first inning as Thanatharn's double brought home Radcliff. LBSU pushed three more across in the second inning with Radcliff's double and an RBI single from both Brianna Goad and Thanatharn. The Bears returned the favor in the top of the third scoring two runs, highlighted by Amy Baxter's RBI double. The 49ers went back up by four (6-2) as they scored two runs on one hit and two errors in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brown threatened in the seventh scoring two runs on a double by Kaitlyn Laabs, but Cross was able to settle down and close out the game. Long Beach State will open Big West Conference play this weekend as they host Cal State Northridge in a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm on Saturday at the 49er Softball Complex. The 49ers will complete the three game series against the Matadors with a single game on Sunday at 1 pm. |
