49ers Fall to Portland State and Stanford Lacy Tyler (1-6) took the loss in game one for Long Beach State allowing five runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings pitched. Whitney Radcliff led the 49er offense with a two-run shot, her first homerun of the season. Portland State pushed two runs across in the first inning and then added three more in the third with Mandy Hill's three-run blast. The 49ers responded in the bottom of the third as Ashley Levine singled up the middle and then Radcliff smacked a homerun over the right field fence, but the Vikings increased their lead to five (7-2) as they scored two more runs in the sixth inning. The 49ers threatened in the bottom half of the inning with Tyler's RBI single, but it wasn't enough as Portland State was able to keep the 49er bats quiet the rest of the way. Long Beach State will finish the tournament tomorrow when they play a single game against Ohio at 10 am.
